“Whooping Cranes - Love In Different Languages of the World”
This image, created last year, wasn’t ready for the Valentine’s holiday in 2021. It is now! I sold many of these cards in retail shops in the last many months. It is also for sale here It makes a perfect cards for so many occasions. Valentine’s Day, weddings, birthdays. We all want more love out there!

Prayer Wheels at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI
This summer I visited the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI. (A “must see”, in case you haven’t been there yet.). It was so inspiring to be there, see the cranes in person, meet the staff (equally impressive in their own right!).
The new facilities of the ICF are world class, and the display of the large copper prayer wheels with the cranes in copper relief work are incredible. They were made in Nepal by fifth generation copper artisans. If you visit the facilities, you can turn the wheels yourself and put those good vibrations out into the universe. Really spectacular.
It took me weeks to complete this image, trying to work up the texture and depth on the cranes. Letting those colors dry and then come back to them. But it was worth the effot. It was painted in watercolors.

Lake Superior Fall Cove - 40” x 30” acrylic
My latest acrylic of Lake Superior, one of my favorite places to visit. The magical qualities of this lake astound me. Prints of this painting will be available here on my website as well as greeting cards (coming in the near future).
This painting was recently taken to VIVA Gallery for the June Winding Roads Art Tour here in Viroqua, WI.
Birch trees have always been so special to me. I love them and always have. They are a constant source of enjoyment all year long for me.
For many years now my seasonal birch tree images have sold well as prints and cards. Several customers have asked me to group the birch tree cards together according to the seasons, and I’ve recently listed that in my SHOP section. Now you can purchase all four seasons of birches.

Just finishing this custom order for a family who loves Rocky Mountain National Park. They sent me a picture of a hike they had gone on last fall, and this is my interpretation of that scene. This painting will a daily visual for them - in their home - of special connection to wild places, especially Rocky Mountain National Park.
This original acrylic is 18” x 18” in a gallery wrapped canvas. Sides are painted. Varnished.
What a joy to paint this! Can’t wait to go and see the spot myself someday.

In light of the fact that the upcoming 2020 Winding Roads Art Tour has been rescheduled for next year (June 5-6, 2021 10-5pm both days) due to the COVID-19 situation, I am working hard to update my shop to have many of the items that are usually only available at my shows like this event. I will announce on Instagram and this blog when my whole site is updated. So far in my shop I have updated my tiny originals. More to come!

All You Need Is Love - 40” x 30” Custom
This might be my favorite title ever! I completed this custom work this past fall for a lovely family. They had specific colors requests and wanted cranes flying across a morning sky. The intention for the piece was “All you Need Is Love” I couldn’t agree more. This has become part of my series of “Music of the Skies”.
This couple contacted me a few months ago and asked me to create a large painting for over the fireplace in their new home. They wanted the painting to capture the spirit of our area here in Driftless of southwestern Wisconsin, but not be a specific place.
As part of my process, I asked them to choose some words that were meaningful to them at this time. I incorporated all those words and thoughts in the underlayers of the painting. Big nature afficionados and bird lovers, the trout stream and flock of birds seems to carry the intention for the painting, creating a very meaningful connection for them.
It was such an honor to work with this couple . When leaving to take their painting home, this was expressed: “This has been one of the best things that ever happened to me.” I am humbled by this and very thankful for the opportunity to work with them.

I recently finished this acrylic and mixed media painting. Even though the winter cold can sometimes be a challenge for me, I do love the season and the beauty is brings. I’m mean….come on! Those blue shadows on snow. I just absolutely love them.
My son’s friend recently came over to our home and saw this painting and her exact words were, “You capture and inspire the heartfelt joy of nature.” Of course, I said, “Can I quote you on that?”! Thank you, Genevieve, for your kind words that I do strive to express in all my work. I’m so glad that Genevieve told me this, because I feel that joy in everything I paint.

Small Fall Birches
"A Call For Peace" - Whooping Cranes
I just finished this original watercolor and calligraphy last week, using my Danish great-grandfather's pen. The word for peace is written in 14 different languages in a circle, surrounding two endangered Whooping Cranes. Prints are now available on my SHOP page here. This was really meaningful for me to create.
